Mrs. Viola M. McCreery, 72, of 1410 East Second street, died at the St. Joseph hospital, at 9:55 p.m. Sunday. She was the daughter of James P. and Margaret Goodman, born in Keokuk county, August 1, 1869. She had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 24 years. Mrs. McCreery was a member of the East End Presbyterian church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Mildred Bradford and Mrs. Vera Carpenter of Ottumwa, Mrs. Louise Michelson of San Francisco and Mrs. Madelyn Hartman, Fairfield; three sons, Earl McCreery, Birmingham, Ernest of Packwood and Raymond of Salina. She is also survived by a half-sister Mrs. Ollie Standish, Long Beach and a half brother, Clayton Goodman of Long Beach and by five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the East End Presbyterian church with the Rev. George T. Hubbard in charge. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel, where it will remain until 2 p.m. Tuesday when it will be taken to the church to lie in state until the hour of services.
