Jennie J. Hendren 88, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Arthur Potter, 325 North Marion street, at 10:40 p.m. Thursday. She was born in Jessamine county, Kentucky, December 25, 1852. She moved to Illinois in 1889, and then to Ottumwa in 1911. She made her home here ever since that time. Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Neva Tyson, McLean Illinois, Mrs. Anna West, LaPorte Indiana, Mrs. Dora Shaub, Elmira Michigan, Mrs. Susie Ohm, Standford, Illinois, Mrs. Lillian Potter, Ottumwa and Mrs. Florence Matthews, Fremont. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merritt Hendren and by one son, Chester. Private services will be held at the Lester Jay funeral home at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Herbert Allen Keck, D.D. of the First Methodist church, in charge. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until 1 p.m. Sunday.
