Frank Winkler, War Veteran, Dies
Frank J. Winkler 45, died suddenly at his home 203 North Ward street, Friday at 7:45 p.m. He was a World war veteran serving with the headquarters detachment, motor battalion 313th ammunition train. Mr. Winkler was born in Muscatine, September 13, 1895 the son of Joseph and Nettie Winkler. He has resided in Ottumwa 10 years and in Davenport 15 years. He enlisted in the army June 26, 1918 at Muscatine and was discharged June 11, 1919. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church. His is survived by his wife, Mildred, and a niece, Mrs. Imogene Warren of Des Moines. Requiem high mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's church Monday morning at 10:15 a.m. the Rev. Thomas C. Donohoe, officiating. Military services will be held at the grave in Calvary cemetery. The rosary will be said at Johnson's chapel at 8 p.m. Sunday night.
