T.G Smith, Veteran Farmer Dies At 84
T.G. Smith, 84, of 517 Glenwood avenue, died at his home at 1 a.m. today. He had lived in Ottumwa for 22 years, after retiring from farming. Mr. Smith was born May 13, 1857, in Jefferson county the son of Nathan and Elmina Smith. Surviving are his wife, Ida and two daughters, Mrs. E.W. McCreery, Aurora, Illinois, and Mrs. Lena Smith, Aurora, Illinois; two sons, Orval Smith, Selma and Charles T. Smith of Ottumwa, and one brother O.C. Smith of Abington. Mr. Smith was a member of the First Christian church in Ottumwa. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the Lester Jay funeral home, with the Rev. Harold Roberts in charge. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn cemetery.
