Patrick Curran 52, of 214 North Iowa avenue, died Monday afternoon at the Hines hospital for veterans near Chicago. He was born March 13, 1889 in Ottumwa, and had lived here all his life. He was the son of John B. and Bridget Curran. He worked with his father in the Curran Ice Co. for a number of years and more recently had been in the coal business in Ottumwa. Mr. Curran was a World war veteran. He enlisted in the 90th Iowa division and spent 18 months in active duty with the A.E.F. Mr. Curran was a member of the Sacred Heart church. General Shields council Knights of Columbus, the Elks, Eagles and the American Legion, the Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Holy Name society. He was married January 8, 1933 to Nellie Phillips, who survives him. He also is survived by two children, Bernice and Michael, both at home and a brother Edward, of Ottumwa. The body will arrive this afternoon at 5:30 and will be taken to the Vaughan funeral chapel pending funeral arrangements.
Funeral services for Patrick Curran, World war veteran who died Monday afternoon at the Hines hospital near Chicago will be held Friday at 8:30 a.m. at the home and at 9 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic church, where a requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. J.H. Courtney. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Military services will be held at the grave. Members of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Names society will meet Thursday evening at 8 o'clock at the home to recite the rosary. Members of the Knights of Columbus will meet at their home on Third street Thursday at 7:30 p.m. to go in a body to the Curran home. The body was taken from the Vaughan chapel to the home this evening.
