C.Y Smith Veteran Lumber Dealer, Dies
Was Native of Kirkville Funeral Tuesday
Chester Y. Smith 73, veteran Ottumwa lumber, dealer , died at his home, 449 North Market street, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Smith was born in Kirkville, January 28, 1868. He was the son of the Rev. D.C. Smith and Georgiana Smith. He married Etta Rack of Fairfield, who preceded him in death in 1929. Surviving are two sons, Byre Y. and Leighton R. Smith, both of Portland, Oregon, two brothers H.C. Smith of Ottumwa, and C.V. Smith of Albia and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Lester Jay funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Harold Roberts. Burial will be in the Ottumwa cemetery.
