Ora Allen (Bud) Carter, 74, retired Wapello county farmer, died Monday at 9:15 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edwin Gates 321 Fairview avenue. Death came suddenly as the result of a stroke of apoplexy. Mr. Carter was born in Bladensburg, April 6, 1866. He had lived in Wapello county throughout his life. He was married June 20, 1886, to Miss Ida Mae Fuqua, who preceded him in death November 11, 1936. The Carter celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary that year. Surviving are daughters Mrs. L.V. Peirson, of Hedrick, Mrs. Omer Wiler and Mrs. Guy Garber of Martinsburg, Mrs. Dwight Coy of Davenport, Mrs. Ted Vannoy and Mrs. Gates of Ottumwa and Mrs. Carl Coch of Burlington; sons H.C. Carter of Ottumwa, Clyde Carter of Eldon and Ernest Carter of Dunlap, Illinois; 44 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Reece funeral home. The body will be taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ted Vannoy, 1321 Mowery avenue today at 7:30 p.m.

Services for Ora Allen (Bud) Carter, retired Wapello county farmer who died Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edwin Gates, 321 Fairview avenue, will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ted Vannoy 1321 Mowery avenue, and at 2 p.m. in Blandenburg church conducted by Orval Smith. Burial will be in Blandensburg cemetery. In addition to survivors announced Tuesday, is a sister Mrs. Minnie Lutz of San Antonio, Texas. Grandsons who will serve as pallbearers are Loren Wiley, Harry C. Peirson, Carroll Carter, Everett Garber, Waldo Vannoy and Joe Peirson.
