Veteran Ottumwa Machinist Is Dead
Joseph Larson, 65, Succumbs Sunday
Joseph Larson 65-year-old Ottumwa machinist, died Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at his home 144 North Ward street. He had been bedfast since February 4, 1941. Mr. Larson was born February 4, 1876 in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Jonas and Marie Larson. He was the eldest of a family of six boys, all of whom preceded him in death. Mr. Larson spent most of his life, before coming to Ottumwa in 1905, in Rockford, Illinois where his father was a leader in the early Zion church. He was married to Miss Nellie Nelson June 27, 1901 in Minneapolis. Surviving are his wife, Nellie; daughters Mrs. Delph Orman of Ottumwa, Mrs. Bert Faulkner and Mrs. F.W. Faulkner of Keosauqua, and two grand daughters, Sherol Marie and Judith Jo Faulkner of Keosauqua. Mr. Larson was a member of the First Lutheran church and of the Modern Woodmen of America. Services will be conducted by the Rev. M.H. Lundeen, pastor, at the home Tuesday, at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran church at 2:30 p.m. The body is at the home. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ernest and Carl L. Anderson, Ernest W. Johnson, Victor E. Darrell, Lawrence E. Orman and Claude Albright.
