Carl Dalin, 55-year-old Ottumwa jeweler, died Sunday at 12:45 p.m. at his home 440 North Court street, from a heart attack. Mr. Dalin suffered the attack before the Sunday noon meal after shoveling snow with his younger son Roger.
He was born June 21, 1885, the son of Charles A. and Johanna Charlotte Dalin. He had lived in Ottumwa all his life. Forty years ago he became affiliated with the Arnold Jewelry & Music Co., 113 East Main street. The 40th anniversary of his association with that firm came of the day of his death. In his youth Mr. Dalin had carried the Courier. He was active in civic affairs and was a member of the Rotary club, Chamber of Commerce and of Empire lodge, No. 269, A.F. & A.M. Currently he was vice president and secretary and general manager of the Arnold jewelry firm. Surviving are his wife, Veva; daughter Charlotte, and sons Robert and Roger. Services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the First Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Harold Lancaster D.D.

Services for Carl Dalin, Ottumwa jeweler who died suddenly at his home 440 North Court street, Sunday, will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Harold Lancaster D.D. at the First Methodist church. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Nelson Hagnaur of St. Louis, Fred Hall, Harry Loffua of Chicago, A.W. Trautwein, O.P. Trautwein and Lester Hardsoeg. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Borgersen, Claes Hallberg, Chester Whitmore, C.C. Meisters, Forrest Hunter, Clarence Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Jack Beighle of Iowa City, F.I. Reed of Oskaloosa, Horace Brown, Ralph Vernon, Dr. C.E Gross, Dr. D.O. Bovenmyer, Walter McLain and Clyde Hightshoe.
