Local Resident 43 Years Dies
Omer Thomas, 69, of 817 Lee avenue died at his home Sunday at 1 p.m. He was the son of John and Sarah Thomas and was born at Prairie, Illinois, April 12, 1871. He had lived in Ottumwa for the last 43 years. Mr. Thomas was a former employee of Nicholas Manufacturing Co. Surviving are his son, Earl of Ottumwa; grandson Max Thomas of Ottumwa, and a brother Cyrus H. of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah. Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Johnson's funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. A.D. McClure. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery. Pallbearers will be Peter Hissink, Walter Vanderhorst, Henry Lapham, Ray Campbell, Howard Ford and John Fisher.
