Howard E. Fletcher Dies At Noon Today
Ottumwan Was 36; At Morrell's 15 Years.
Howard E. Fletcher, 36, of 306 North Iowa avenue, died today at 12:15 p.m. at St. Joseph hospital after a serious illness of three weeks.
Mr. Fletcher had been in poor health for the last six months and had but recently returned from Rochester, Minnesota, where he underwent examination. He was in the accounting department of the general office of John Morrell & Co. and had been employed in that office since June, 1925. He was born in Ottumwa, August 17, 1904, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fletcher. He was married July 19, 1931 to Miss Bernice Clabby. He had lived in Ottumwa all his life. Surviving are his wife, Bernice; son Richard; daughter Diane; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fletcher of Ottumwa; sister Miss Marjorie Fletcher and one brother, Roland fletcher of Ottumwa. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church and the Elks lodge. He was graduated from Ottumwa high school and Iowa Success business college.
Fletcher Services
Services for Harold E. Fletcher who died Wednesday noon at St. Joseph hospital, will be held Friday at the home at 8:30 a.m. and at Sacred Heart Catholic church at 9 a.m. where requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. J.H. Courtney, Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be J.M. Mock, Dr. H.H. Moore, Herman Feldman, Charles Baker, Elmer Kendall and G.L. Rhys
Active pallbearers will be Harold Colson, Maurice McCauley, Owen Lewis, Paul Celania, Lyle Howard and Fleming Biddison. Members of the Holy Name society, Women's Order of Catholic Foresters, and General Shields council No. 888 Knights of Columbus, will meet at the Fletcher home tonight to recite the rosary. Elks will have a service at the grave. The body is at the home, 306 North Iowa avenue.
