S.J. Kelter Dies:
Ottumwan 33 Years
Samuel J. Kelter, 85, a resident of Ottumwa for 33 years, died at 8:45 today at his home 510 Ellis avenue, after a week's illness. He was born May 20, 1855, at McHenry Illinois. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Margaret and Ellen both of Ottumwa: three sons John E., Dennis, and Michael, all of Ottumwa; a brother, James G. Kelter, Douglas Arizona, a sister Mrs. Alice Miller, Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by two sons, one in infancy and one James C. Kelter in the World war. He was a member of St. Patrick's church and of General Shields council, No. 888, Knights of Columbus. The body was removed to the Vaughan funeral chapel pending. Funeral services for Samuel J. Kelter of 510 Ellis avenue, who died Monday, will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the home and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic church where requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. T.C. Donohoe, pastor. Mr. Kelter is survived by his wife, two daughters, three sons, one brother, one sister, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Members of General Shields Council No. 888, Knights of Columbus; Catholic Daughters of Foresters, and members of St. Patrick parish will meet at the home at 8 o'clock tonight to recite the rosary. The body has been removed to the home. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
