Friends in this city have received word of the death of engineer George Wright, of the Rock Island. Mr. Wright died at Eldon after a short illness. It is reported that he drank an acid by mistake about a week ago and after a few days of suffering he died. He will be remembered by many here as he formerly ran out of this city. Lately he has been on the run between Oskaloosa and Valley Junction. He was a man about 45 years of age and an old timer on the Rock Island.

Mistake In Medicine Proves Fatal to Engineer.
~
George Wright, the Rock Island engineer who by mistake on Sunday, a week ago, drank muriatic acid thinking it to be medicine, died Sunday at Eldon, where he had been taken to the home of his brother Emory Wright.
George Wright was one of the best known engineers along the Des Moines Valley Division of the Rock Island. He had been on the road for almost twenty years, and had been an engineer for fully fifteen years it is said. For the last two years the unfortunate man had been running the switch engine in this city. He had made his home during that time with Mr. and Mrs. J.Q. Anderson. He was most popular among those who knew him, and was a most faithful friend.
