JAMES CALHOON
James B. Calhoon, 68, of 924 Tuttle died at 9:42 p.m. April 11 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield. He retired from John Deere Ottumwa Works after 24 years.
He was born July 26, 1909, at Unionville, Mo., to Glen and Nellie Hombs Calhoon and had lived in Ottumwa since 1942. He was a member of John Deere Retirees Club and the Wapello County Historical Society. He married Dorothy R. Vallandingham on Dec. 25. 1933, at Batavia.
Survivors: his wife; sons Tech. Sgt. James P. Calhoon, with the Air Force at Albuquerque, N M., and Staff Sgt. Glen D. Calhoon, with U.S. Air Force at Cheyenne, Wyo.; daughters Joan MacLearn of Ottumwa and Carol Andrews of Galesburg, 111.; and four grandchildren.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. James Dendler of Willard Street United Methodist Church officiating. Burial: Shaul Cemetery. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service
