Obituary From “Ottumwa Daily Courier,” Monday, March 24, 1947:

MRS. JULIA E. JOHNSTON

BLAKESBURG – Mrs. Julia Etta Johnston, 85, died at 11:45 a.m. Sunday at the home of her son, John W. Johnston of Blakesburg where she had lived for six years.

She was born at Blandinsville, Ill., and came to Iowa as a child, since residing in and near Blakesburg. Surviving are two sons, John W. of Blakesburg and Charles of Kansas City; a daughter, Mrs. Cora Chisman of Blakesburg; a brother, Jesse Headley of San Diego; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Her husband, a son and two brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Knedler funeral home, in charge of the Rev. James A. Walls of the Methodist church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
