Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” April 1, 1954:

Miss Dorothy Heflin, 44, formerly employed in the recorder’s office at the Wapello county courthouse, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the home of a sister, Mrs. Lloyd Calloway [sic-should be Callaway], at Savanna, Ill. She had been in ill health for several years, and moved from Ottumwa two years ago.

She was born November 9, 1909, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Heflin. Her parents preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Calloway [sic] and Mrs. Edward Hunt, Ottumwa.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Herman funeral home at Stockton, Ill. Graveside services will be in Shaul cemetery here at 2 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Byron E. Hayes of Willard Street Methodist church.
