Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” January 28, 1948:

Fenton Gregory Dies At Age Of 82

Fenton (Finney) Gregory, 82, formerly of 853 Ellis avenue, died Tuesday at 11 p.m. in the Wapello county hospital.

Born February 22, 1865, he was a long-time resident of Ottumwa and was well known as a former salesman and businessman. He was employed by the Grand Union Tea Co. for many years and later operated his own candy shop on Madison avenue. Prior to that time he had been the proprietor of a large apiary in south Ottumwa. He was a member of the Finley Avenue Baptist church.

His wife Myrtle Whipple Gregory, preceded him in death July 28, 1940.

Mr. Gregory is survived by one son, Warren, of St. Paul, and two grandchildren.

The body will remain at the Carroll Reece funeral home pending the completion of arrangements.

“GREGORY FUNERAL,” From “Ottumwa Courier,” January 29, 1948:

Funeral services for Fenton (Finney) Gregory, 82, who died Tuesday evening in the Wapello county hospital, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Carroll Reece funeral home in charge of the Rev. V.L. Currier. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clifford Agee, Newton Dale, O.B. Lee, Warren Lowe, James Kirkpatrick, and John Smith.
