Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” July 29, 1940:

MRS. MYRTLE E. GREGORY.

Mrs. Myrtle E. Gregory, 66, wife of Fenton E. Gregory, 849 Ellis avenue, died at her home at 7:20 p.m. Sunday following an illness of three weeks.

She was born December 1, 1873, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Whipple. She was married October 26, 1882, in Ottumwa, was a member of the Finley Avenue Baptist church, and the Degree of Honor, Cloutman post, No. 123, W.R.C.

Survivors include her husband, a son, Warren Gregory, St. Paul., a granddaughter, Jeanne Gregory, St. Paul; sisters, Mrs. C.L. Reeves, Galesburg, Ill., and Mrs. W.H. Oseland, Wanatchee, Wash.; and brothers, Ernest Whipple, Ottumwa, Edward Whipple, Oskaloosa, and Frank Whipple, Hollywood, Calif.

The body is at the Reece funeral home pending arrangements.

Funeral Notice From “Ottumwa Courier,” July 30, 1940:

Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle E. Gregory, 66, who died at her home, 849 Ellis avenue, last Sunday night, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Carroll Reece funeral home, conducted by the Rev. V.L. Currier, pastor of the Finley Avenue Baptist church. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery.

Pallbearers will be C.L. Reeves, Ernest Whipple. W.C. Banfield, Willard Reeves, C.A. Overpeck and Henry Denebrink.
