Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” August 9, 1947:

Lafayette E. Kinder, 88, of 106 South Vine street, died at his home Friday at 3:45 p.m.

The son of William and Martha Kinder, he was born November 11, 1858, in Decatur county, Iowa. At the age of 12, he moved to Blakesburg and has spent most of his life on a farm in that community. He moved to Ottumwa six years ago.

Mr. Kinder is survived by his wife, Margaret, and one son, George Kinder, at home.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of Rev. W.B. Friend of the Pentecostal church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
