Hulda Sinskey

OTTUMWA - Hulda Marie Sinskey, 98, of Good Samaritan Care Center and formerly of 225 N. Davis, died at 12:25 p.m. Feb 21, 1996 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born Oct. 9, 1897, in Munterville to August and Augusta Nelson Carlson. She married Paul Sinskey on Oct. 18, 1913. He died Aug. 18, 1973.

A resident of the Ottumwa area all of her life, she had been an employee of Earl May, the Iowa Steam Laundry and the Hotel Ottumwa. She was a member of the Munterville Lutheran Church, Miriam Circle at her church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 114 Auxiliary where she was named Grandmother of the Year twice.

She is survived by three daughters, Eudora Brown of San Diego, Wanda Downing of Ottumwa and Donna McCall of Des Moines; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Leona Grooms and an infant daughter, Hazel Irene Sinskey; and a brother, Carl Carlson.

The service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Munterville Lutheran Church, the Rev. Kent Shane officiating. Burial will be in the Munterville Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. today at the Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Gary Brown, Scott Swacker, Jaye and Brandon Smithhart, Jon Vogel Hoa Tu, Danny Fall and Paul Zaino. Honorary pallbearers will be Herbert Harreld, Roy McNeese and Frank Hartley. Memorials may be made to her church.
