Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," January 2, 1904:

Wm. Spurlock, aged 86 years, died at his home, one mile south of Bladensburg, Wednesday, December 23, 1903. He leaves an aged wife, two sons and two daughters, besides a host of friends to mourn his loss. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Bladensburg and had been a minister of the gospel for several years. The funeral was conducted at Abingdon, where the interment was made.
