TAPS SOUNDED FOR WAR VETERAN
CHRISTIAN E. COTTON, COMMANDER OF TUTTLE POST G.A. R., ANSWERS ROLL CALL.
The visitation of the death angel at the Cotton home, 518 South Sheridan Avenue, at 9:15 o'clock Sunday night, called Christian E. Cotton, a veteran of the civil war and commander of the J. M. Tuttle Post G. A. B. of South Ottumwa. The decedent was one of the best known war veterans of South Ottumwa. He was popular among his comrades which was evidenced by his election to the head of the J. M. Tuttle post. He was born in Pennsylvania, February 13, 1846 and had resided in Iowa and Wapello county many years. He was a member of Company A, Eleventh Illinois Infantry and saw valiant service during the war. He was an earnest Christian, being a member of
Willard Street Methodist Episcopal church. He is survived by his wife, and two daughters, Mrs. C. E. Dunwiddie and Mrs. Elizabeth Llewellyn and three grandchildren, Palmer, Elizabeth and Bruce Dunwiddie. Two brothers also survive him, James A. Cotton of Rockford, Ill., and Captain Gilbert Palmer Cotton of New York City. Funeral services will be held at the Willard Street Methodist Episcopal church Wednesday afternoon at| 2 o'clock. Rev. E. J. Shook will conduct the services. The remains will be interred in the Ottumwa cemetery.
