CARL RYDER DIES IN MINNEAPOLIS
FORMER MANAGER OF SWIFT OTTUMWA BRANCH SUCCUMBS AFTER LONG ILLNESS.Carl Ryder, formerly manager of Ottumwa branch of Swift & Co. well known to the business men of city, died Friday at his home Minneapolis. Mr. Ryder had been ill all fall. He leaves a wife and little daughter and one brother. Mr. Ryder was a member of the Fond du Lac Wis., lodge of A. F. and A. M. and the Elks. Mr. Ryder graduated from the high school of Fond du Lac, his native town. He entered the postal service there after graduating and was employed two years as clerk, the Fond du Lac office. He also served three years as railway clerk. He resigned this position to enter the employ of the Swift Bros. Packing company at Chicago. Six months later was appointed manager of the company's house at Ottumwa. After years attention to this position he resigned and entered in the wholesale commission business here. He sold in 1906 and went to Minneapolis where he became manager of Northwestern Production Company’s plant.
