Suffered New Heart Attack At Home Today
Nationally-Known Educator Was 55 Years Old; Came to Ottumwa System in 1923. Superintendent Since 1927.
Roy Finley Hannum, 55, for the last eight years Ottumwa superintendent of public schools died suddenly about 9 AM today, death came at his home, 202 Oakwood Ave., where he had been ill since April 28, when he suffered a serious heart attack at his office downtown. The seriousness of his condition was recognized at that time as the days passed recovery seemed apparent. During the last few days Mr. Hannum had been able to leave his bed and walk some of the upstairs floor of his home.
Signed Diplomas
Busy with his work to the last Mr. Hannum had last week signed his name to the 303 diplomas which will go to Ottumwa high school graduates Thursday night at their commencement.
