Pioneer Woman Dies On Sunday
Mrs. Henrietta Peck 88, of Fairfield, Lived in Ottumwa Forty Years.
Resident of Jefferson and Wapello counties for the last 84 years Mrs. Henrietta Peck, 85, died Sunday at 5:15 PM at the home of her daughter Mrs. Nettie Glass, in Fairfield. She was the daughter of William and Catherine Eller and was born in North Carolina, May 13, 1848. She came to Jefferson County in a covered wagon when she was four years old. For forty years she lived in Ottumwa. The last 20 years had been spent in Fairfield. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Glass of Fairfield and Mrs. J. C. Coon of Des Moines; two sons, James B. Peck of Ottumwa and Burchard H. of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Robert T. Eller of Hastings, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Her husband, A. W. Peck, and six children preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 AM at Johnson's funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. W. J. Creswell. Burial will be made in the Ottumwa cemetery.
