E. Clingman dies at 80

FREMONT - Edith Clingman, 80, Cedar Rapids and former resident of the Farson, Hedrick and Packwood Communities, died Wednesday at the Winslow House Care Center in Marion.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Fremont Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Kermit Black and Pastor Joe Selix will officiate and burial will be in Competine Cemetery near Farson.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral chapel in Fremont and memorials may be made to the Packwood Christian Church.

Mrs. Clingman served as custodian at the Packwood School for 20 years and she was a member of the Packwood Christian Church.

Edith Clingman was born June 19, 1903, in Wapello County to Elza F. and Martha Jane Melson Vannoy. She was married July 8, 1922, in Fairfield to Clarence Clingman. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Abernathy, Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl Grissom, Winthrop.
