Luella Workman

OTTUMWA - Sarah Luella Workman, 78, of Ottumwa, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 1991, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was the mother of Janet Fisher of Fairfield.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Ottumwa with the Rev. Neil Guy and the Rev. Richard Goins officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions to First Christian Church in Ottumwa or Knights of Templar Eye Foundation.

Mrs. Workman was born Sept. 13, 1912, two miles east of Kirkville in Wapello County. She attended school in Hedrick, graduating from Hedrick High School in 1931. She married Ralph Workman on Oct. 17, 1944, at First Christian Church in Ottumwa. She had worked for Briggs Ice Cream Store for two years and as an eyeglass lens grinder for American Optical Co. for eight years. She was a member of First Christian Church, helped in the women's groups and was active in Christian Women's Fellowship until suffering a stroke in June 1984. She was a member of a number of Masonic organizations.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by her husband and two grandchildren. Her parents, a brother, Pearl Gilyeart, three sisters, Lola Picken, Irene Peterson and Harriett Anderson, preceded her in death.
