J. Alva Davis, 83, 1203 S. Sixth St., formerly of Strawberry, Ariz., died at 5:10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 1996, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The body has been cremated and the service will be conducted in Payson, Ariz. Memorials may be made to Jefferson County Hospital intensive care unit in care of Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, which is in charge of arrangements.
Davis was born May 15, 1912, in Woodburn, the son of Roy and Lulu Yule Davis. On June 16, 1946, he married LaVon Hanshaw, who died March 27, 1980. A resident of Arizona most of his life, he moved to Fairfield in 1993. He was a building contractor and had owned Valencia Water Co. in Buckeye, Ariz. He was a member of the Brethren church.
Surviving are two daughters, Lyn Williams of Ottumwa, Pam Miglio of St. Paul, Minn.; and four grandchildren.
He was precede in death by two sisters, Velma Weakland and Lizzie McCleary; and two brothers, Ralph and Kenneth.
