W. A. Carnes Pioneer, Is Dead, Age 81
Longtime resident and businessman of Ottumwa, William Andrew Carnes, 81, died at 9:55 AM today at his home, 238 N. Davis St. For more than 25 years Mr. Carnes operated the Ottumwa Buggy Co. Later he had been proprietor the Auto Top and Harness Shop, 308 Church St. He was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana, September 1, 1854, the son of John and Mary Carnes. He was married to Lou E. Gray in 1874. She superseded him in death in 1903, in 1909 he was married Clara Wagner, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Lloyd and William A. Jr., of Ottumwa. Friends may call at Johnson's funeral Chapel pending completion of funeral arrangements.
