Ottumwa Courier April 6, 1936

Robert C. Swanson, 57, died at his home, 1544 Maple St., Saturday at 10:50 PM. He was the son of Ander and Anna Swanson and was born in Sweden, July 16, 1878. He came to America and to Ottumwa when he was two years old. He had lived here since that time. For the last 36 years he had been employed by the John Morrell & Co. He was a member of the Maccabees, Ottumwa. Surviving are his wife, Jennie, three daughters, Mrs. Joe Short, Violet and Mary, all of Ottumwa; two sons, Albert LeRoy Swanson and Wilbert Swanson, both of Ottumwa; two sisters, Mrs. Selma Carlson of Ottumwa route 6 and Mrs. Anna Autmon of Omaha, Nebraska; one brother Albert Swanson, Grandsburg, Wisconsin, and one granddaughter, Lela Mae Swanson of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by his parents and two children. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 PM at the home conducted by the Rev. W. J. Creswell. Burial be made in the Ottumwa cemetery. The body will be removed to the home tonight. Pallbearers will be John Stiles, Walter Walker, William Short, James Huddleston, Ambers Jones and Charles Pentzer.
