Morrell Veteran Is Dead At 80
George W. Twedell Had Worked For Local Concern 46 Years
George W. Twedell, 80, for 65 years an Ottumwan, died at his home, 2109 E. Main St., at 2 AM today. Forty-six of those 65 years he lived here had been spent with the John Morrell & Co. packing plant. He had a record of 57 years in the service of packing plants. He was born in LaSalle, Indiana, August 26, 1855 coming to at Ottumwa when he was 15. Surviving are his wife, Lavina; one daughter, Mrs. Edna Schaub, Ottumwa; two sons, Daniel, Grand Forks North Dakota, and George Richard, Austin, Minnesota; 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the home, conducted by the Rev. R. J. Creswell, pastor of the East End Presbyterian Church of which he was a member. Time of services will be announced later. The body will remain at the Lester Jay funeral home until Thursday evening.
