Woman Uses Gun To End Her Life
Mrs. Minnie Kingyon Said To Have Been Despondent Over Approaching Operation.
Said to have been despondent over the possibility of an operation for goiter, Mrs. Minnie Kingyon, 66 of 826 W. Main St., shot and killed herself with a 38 caliber revolver in the living room of her home Monday. With a wound in the left breast, the body of the woman was found on the davenport, the gun fallen to the floor, about 1:30 PM by members of the family. The woman had been dead for several hours when found, Coroner John Drake said today. The probable time of death was said at 10 AM. When last seen, about 8:30 AM Monday, the woman was apparently in good spirits. She was the daughter of John and Mary Saner and was born in Davis County, June 6, 1869. She had lived in Ottumwa for the last 25 years. Surviving are her husband at home; five sons, Roy Saner of Floris, Edd Stober of Agency, John Stober of Eldon, and Clarence Stober, both of Ottumwa; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Reick of Three Rivers, Michigan, Mrs. Grace Anderson of Drakesville, and Mrs. Daisy Duke and Mrs. Verdia Thompson both of Ottumwa; two brothers, Pete Saner of Floris and Mass Saner of Bloomfield; two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Brookshire of Belknap and Mrs. Ida Rodenstien of California, and 27 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 PM at Johnson's funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Eugene C. Beach. Burial be made in the Memorial Lawn cemetery.
