Resident For 70 Years Dies Here
Mrs. Sophia Schaub, 87, Was Native Of Germany; Funeral Services Are Tuesday.
A resident here for seventy years, Mrs. Sophia Senftic Schaub, 87, died at 2 AM Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. H. Osterberg, 918 E. 4th St. after a long illness. Mrs. Schaub was born January 6, 1849 in Baden-Baden Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Xaver Senftic. She came the United States when she was 16, settling in Des Moines. She was married to Louis Schaub Schwab and 1868 and settled at the present address. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Henry Lusher and Mrs. Osterberg, both of Ottumwa, and Mrs. F. B. Smart, West liberty; six sons, L. L., Otto, August and Fred, all of Ottumwa, Henry of Chicago and George of Des Moines. One brother Fred Senftic, Des Moines and one sister Miss Mary Senftic Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday at the Lester Jay funeral home conducted by the Rev. L. A. Stumme. Burial be made in the Ottumwa cemetery.
