Ernest Ferber Is Found Dead
Ottumwan Had Operated Grocery And Hatchery Business Here For Seven Years.
Ernest F. Ferber, 49, operator of the Ottumwa Hatchery Co. and the Ottumwa grocery, both at 402 W. 2nd St., was found dead at his home, 328 Lincoln Ave., Wednesday at of about 10:30 PM by his daughter, Miss Alice Ferber. There will be no inquest, Coroner John Drake said today. The death certificate will give accidental death by asphyxiation as the cause. Ottumwa firemen were called to the Ferber home about 11:30 PM and used an inhalator for about 5 min. Mr. Ferber had been dead about an hour when found,. Examiners said. Mrs. Ferber was away at the time. He was the son of J. E. and Emma Louise Ferber and was born in Marion County, March 4, 1886. He had lived in Ottumwa for the last seven years, during which time he had operated his present business. He was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church. Surviving are his wife, Ruby; one daughter, Alice, both at home, and four sisters, Mrs. Etta Foglestrom, of Corvsa, Minnesota, Mrs. Bertha Bucklew of Dallas, Mrs. Lydia Bebout of Gosport, and Mrs. Dana Goff of Chariton. Friends may call at Johnson's funeral Chapel pending completion of funeral arrangements.
