Byron Carr, 83, Dies Here Today
Native Of Waffle County Was Life Member Of Ottumwa Elks Lodge.
Byron Carr, 83, a life B. P. O. E. here and a native of Wapello County died at 8:15 AM today at the St. Joseph hospital, after an illness of four weeks. He lived above 221 S. Market St. Mr. Carr at one time a street car employee and also a railroader. He was born in Wapello County in 1852 and since that time, for all except 12 years, had lived in or near Ottumwa. His residence in Ottumwa has been continuous since 1901. He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Carrie Southard, and Mrs. Gladys Carr of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Amber Nutt of Des Moines; one brother, George Edward, Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Flora Mick, Ottumwa; three grandchildren, Jack Southard of Los Angeles Mrs. Lois LeBlanc of Waterloo and Donovan Nutt, Des Moines; and one grandchild, Judith LeBlanc of Waterloo. His wife preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at the Daggett funeral Chapel Saturday at 10:30 AM, conducted by the Rev. Louis Matheus and the Elks Lodge. Burial be made in the cemetery. Elks members will serve as pallbearers.
