Monday, July 1, 1957Ottumwan Dies On Vacation Trip
Arthur L. Ruby, 47, of 512 Johnson street, died suddenly near Phoenix, Ariz., Saturday while visiting a son, Joseph D. Jones of Phoenix. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. and Mrs. Ruby had left last Monday for a western vacation trip.
He was born May 28, 1910, at Ollie, the son fo Daniel and Osie Carter Ruby. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for 33 years, an employee of John Morrell & Co. for 23 years, a member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple and local No. 1, UPWA.
Surviving are his wife, Letha; three sons, Danny Ruby, at home, Rees Jones of Ottumwa and Joseph Jones of Phoenix; five grandchildren; a brother, LeRoy Ruby of Ottumwa; and five sisters, Mrs. Bertha Ryan, Mrs. Josephine McElroy, Mrs. Zella Pappaducas, all of Ottumwa, Mrs. Goldie Coble of Hedrick and Mrs. Opal Major of Belleflower, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
The casket will be returned to the Johnson funeral chapel.
