OTTUMWA - C.W. "Bugs" Selix, 68, of 108 Lynwood died at 7:46 p.m. August 12, 1999, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born Jan 30, 1931 in Bloomfield to Rev. Russell and Ethyle Jones Selix. He married Carol Becker April 13, 1951. She survives.
A 1949 Ottumwa High School graduate, he participated in football, basketball and baseball and played baseball for the American Legion. He was a sonarman in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and worked 33 years for the Milwaukee Railroad, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed providing music of the big bands for Darrell's Bray's "The Music of Our Times" radio program.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Randy Selix of Ottumwa; a grandson; a sister, Beverly Counterman of Ottumwa; and a brother, Joe Selix of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lowell Selix.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home, Joe Selix and the Rev. Art Campbell officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Military services will be conducted by O.B. Nelson Post 3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday. Family visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brent and Stan Selix, Marty Counterman, Darrell Bray, Jack McVey and Earl Stocker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harry McVey, Bob "Spank" Yoder and DeWayne House.
