Thomas O'Farrell Whalen 64 died at 11 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Death was due to a coronary occulsion. His home was at 552 West Fourth Street. He had been in failing health for several years.

A retired office worker and salesman, he had lived in Ottumwa all of his life, and was a World War II Army Veteran. He was a member of St. Mary's catholic Church.

His marriage to Eleanor Howells was June 14, 1944 at Big Springs, Texas.

He is survived by his widow and by a daughter Mrs. Colleen Riedel of Victor; two grandsons; four brothers; Lawrence Whalen and Lewis Whalen; both of Omaha, Michael Whalen of Grand Island, NEB and Gerald Whalen of Los Angeles, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's church with the Rev. Clifford Eggert officiating a Requiem High Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Graveside Military Services will be in charge of the O.B. Nelson Post of the American Legion. Legion Legionnaires will be pallbearers. The Rasary will be recited Monday at 8 p.m. at Traul Funeral Home.
