Eleanor Jane Whalen 76, formerly of 136 Lincoln Ave. died June 21, at St. Luke's Methodist Hospital at Cedar Rapids.

Born May 17, 1906 at Ottumwa to Henry and Annie Price Howells; she lived here until 1981 when she moved to Victor.

She worked for Northwestern Telephone Company from 1922 to 1945 in the traffic department. She married Thomas O'Farrell Whalen on June 14, 1944. He died Feb. 19, 1970.

Survivors: daughter Colleen Riedel of Victor and two grandsons.

Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with the Rev. Hugh McGinley of St. Patrick's Church officiating.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be J.B. Curran, Phil Horan, Stanley Laurich, Gib Baker, Snike Ryan and Fred Genochio.
