Max Venator 83, of 201 West Keota died today at 5:15 a.m at his home following a long illness.

The son of William and Susan Lindsay Venator, he was born Nov. 6, 1886 in Wapello County. A resident of the county for most of his life he had been a farmer and stockman. He had been in the oil business for a number of years and operated Deep Rock bulk plant and filling station. He retired in 1961.

He was a member of the First Pentecostal Assembly of God Church. His marriage to Hattie Pearson took place Dec. 28, 1910. She preceded him in death in 1937. He then married Marguerite Bender Williamson on Feb. 26, 1939. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters; Mrs. Avis Rowely of Bloomfield; Mrs. Dorothy Humble of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Bernice Buchholz of Agency; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; one step son Gene Williamson at home and one sister; Mrs. Frank Roberts of Los Angeles. He was preceded in death by one step daughter; Pauline Williamson and three brothers.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Cormick Cemetery at Highland Center. The Rev. John Walker of First Pentecostal Assembly Church will officiate the service.
