Mrs. Mary Cooper 78 died Sunday at 3:15 a.m. The Happy Home Nursing Home 527 W. Second Street. She had been in ill health for several years.

She was born Oct. 15, 1884 in Wapello County, the daughter of Edward C. and Parthenia Buckner; pioneers of Wapello County, and had been raised and lived in Ottumwa vacinity all of her life. Her marriage to Edward C. Cooper took place in Ottumwa March 19, 1907. He died December 3, 1951.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church Chapter H.C., P.E.O., L.L. Club and was a charter member of the Whatsoever Circle of the King's Daughters. She was a graduate of Ottumwa High School.

Survivors include a daughter Betty Luthe of Menlo Park, Calif.; a son William H. Cooper of Houston Texas, and six grandchildren.

The service will be Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at Jay Funeral Home with Rev Stanley A. Niebruegge, pastor of the First Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.
