E.G. Cooper dies; Former Businessman

E.G. Cooper former partner in the W.H. Cooper & Sons Furniture Company here for many years; died at 4:20 p.m. Monday at Clarinda Hospital. He was 77.

Mr. Cooper had lived all his life in Ottumwa until his retirement a few years ago. For many years he helped conduct the big furniture store at Court and Main Street.

He was born here October 15, 1874, the son of William H. and Lydia Jane Cooper.

Surviving in addition to his wife Mary; are one daughter; Mrs. Betty Lulbe of Des Moines; one son; William H. Cooper of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, and two brothers; Fred Cooper of Chicago, and Guy Cooper of Shenandoah.

Mr. Cooper was a member of the Ottumwa First Presbyterian church and the Ottumwa Lodge Of Elks.

The body is being returned to Jay Funeral home where services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Ottumwa Cemetery.
