OTTUMWA — Michael R. Veatch, 26, of 1032 S. Weller, died April 2, 2008, from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident at Cliffland Bridge.He was born Sept. 7, 1981 in Broken Bow, Neb. to Dan and Rose Chestnut Veatch.

He had worked at Wapello County Tire and had owned and operated Mike’s Mobile Power Washing. He was a member of Ottumwa Community Church. Michael enjoyed bow hunting, lifting weights and participating in weight lifting competitions. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving is a son, Bailey, a daughter, Emma and their mother, Amanda, all of Ottumwa; his parents, Dan and Gayla Veatch of Ottumwa, Rose and Lyle Engelhardt of Austin, Minn.; grandmother, Joyce Veatch of Ottumwa; a sister, Miranda Veatch-Lunsford of Eddyville; niece and nephew, Trayten and Rylee Lunsford of Eddyville; two stepbrothers, Kaleb Hurley of Olathe, Kan. and Joshua Hurley of Philadelphia, Pa.; two stepsisters, Wendy Jax of Austin, Minn. and LaShauna Ginn of Lakeland, Fla.He was preceded in death by grandparents, Raymond Veatch, Floyd and Edith Chestnut.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ottumwa Community Church with Pastor Bryan Wyldes officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for his children’s education.Obituary may be viewed at: www.legacy.com/ottumwacourier/Obituaries.asp
