OTTUMWA — Ruth Monohon, 90, of Des Moines, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 12:01 p.m. April 1, 2008, at Taylor House in Des Moines.She was born July 9, 1917 in Rockford, Ill. to Tom and Melissa LaRue Hunt Hood. She married Scotty Monohon in 1933 in Lancaster, Mo. He preceded her in death March of 1979.

A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, she moved to Des Moines in 1968. She had worked at Dahl’s in the deli, retiring in 1985. She was an avid Cub’s fan.

Surviving are three grandsons, Bill Rogers of Des Moines, Tom Rogers of Ottumwa, Rick Rogers of Marion; a granddaughter, Pam Spilman of Ottumwa; nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille James of California; and Dick and Denise Etter and their children, Ashley, Stacy and Lacy.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Rogers; and a brother, Fred Diedrick.Her body has been cremated.Graveside services and inurnment will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Shaul Cemetery.
