George Grimes, 65, Ottumwa

Ottumwa~~ George E. Grimes 65, of 1446 W. Second Street died at 11:45 a.m. May 27, 2006 at Hospice House.

He was born May 3, 1941 in Ottumwa to Rex and Maxine Pilcher Grimes. He was a self-employed contractor. He has been a member of the Iowa National Guard and was a social member of Walter B. Schafer Post #775 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are two sons, Chris Grimes of Ottumwa and Rick Grimes of Sacramento, CA. and two daughters Kelly Grimes-Nichols and Amanda Grimes both of Ottumwa; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother Bob Grimes of Davenport and four sisters Susie Deitch, Bonnie Morrow, Connie Toopes and Kris Hoover all of Ottumwa; ten nieces and nine nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Bill, Phillip and Joe Grimes.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Dewey Grimes officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the family.
