OTTUMWA - Helen I. Aanestad, 95, formerly of 2609 Marilyn Rd., died at 10:15 a.m. July 25, 2005, at Living Center East in Cedar Rapids.

She was born July 30, 1909 in Meckling, SD to Christian and Sofie Larson. She married Ralph E. Aanestad June 2, 1931. He preceded her in death February 1, 1984.

A graduate of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, she had lived in Ottumwa most of her life, moving to Cedar Rapids in 2001.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two sons, Don (Carol) Aanestad of Cedar Rapids and David (Katherine) Aanestad of Coralville; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Fosse of San Diego, CA; a niece, Sandra Tooley of Brandon, SD; a nephew, Robert Fosse of San Rafael, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alva Larson; and a grandson, Stephen Alan Aanestad.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Kister officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon Thursday with the family present1 hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to The Horizon Fund at First Lutheran Church.
