OTTUMWA - Marjorie "Beth" Underwood, 63, of 2618 Marilyn Road., died at 9:47 p.m. May 5, 2005 at Hospice House, Ottumwa.

She was born Aug. 30, 1941 in Ft. Dodge to Rudolph and Evelyn Lind Burger.

A member of the last class to graduate from Lanyon High School in 1959, she attended Ft. Dodge Tobin Business College.

She married Robert Underwood January 24, 1970. He preceded her in death Oct. 6, 2001.

She had worked for an insurance company prior to moving to Ottumwa in November 1975. She worked at NOEL Insurance Agency in Ottumwa and then at Southeast Iowa Neurological Association from December 1984 to present.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Iowa Medical Group Managers Association, Ottumwa Regional Health Foundation Advisory Board of the new Cancer Center and past member of Iowa Bowling Association.

Surviving are two daughters, Denise (Clark) Holthaus of Oskaloosa and Gail (Ted) Coulter of Sioux Falls, S.D.; four grandchildren, Jordan and Victoria Holthaus, Spencer and Carson Coulter; a brother, Alan (Nancy) Burger of Gowrie; a sister, Barbara Rabbitt of Gowrie; two step-sons; 5 step-grandchildren; a step-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Arlo Burger; a sister, Joanne Lennarson; brother-in-law, Thomas Rabbitt Sr. and a granddaughter, Angela Underwood.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. Ralph Kister officiating.

Graveside services and burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Lost Grove Township Cemetery in Harcourt with Rev. Jim Davis officiating.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may be made to Hospice or Ottumwa Regional Health foundation for New Cancer Center.
