OTTUMWA — On Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, the angels came to take Tami Layne Collett, 36, of 561 Ottumwa St., home.

She was born Aug. 5, 1971 in Keosauqua to John and Sharon Graham Daakey. She married Christopher Kit Collett Oct. 21, 1989. They later divorced.

A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1989, she had worked at Breadeaux Pizza, Executive Cleaners, Excel, Fareway, Casey’s General Store and Wal-Mart.

Surviving is a son, Skyler Collett of Ottumwa; a daughter, Shelby Collett of Ottumwa; her mother, Sharon (Robert “Sonny”) Gard of Ottumwa; her father John Daakey of Nebraska; four sisters, Trisha (Dennis) Rupe of Floris, Barb (Rick) Richmond of Eddyville, Sally (Scott) Couch of Eddyville; three brothers, Dustin, Joe (Chelsea) and Dan (Tina) Gard, all of Ottumwa; a grandmother, Lula Arnold of Nebraska; aunts, Kary Graham, Carol Graham, Deb (Dave) Parks, Betty Lee and Bea Nicoletto all of Ottumwa and Connie McGinnis of Nebraska; uncles, Bill Graham of Oklahoma and Richard Gard of Ottumwa; nieces, Stephanie (Cody) VanderBeek, Amy Dalton, Whittany Reighard; nephews, Cody Fletcher of Leighton, Mathew Cobler of Eddyville and nine cousins.

She was preceded in death by grandparents; an aunt, Karen Jackson; and niece, Emma Dawn VanderBeek.Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Sherri Arnold officiating.Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be at a later date.Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday. The family will be present one hour prior to the service Friday.Memorials may be made to Fersenius Medical Care for Dialysis Unit.
