CANTRIL~~ Ronald W. Kirkhart, 55, of rural Cantril, died of cancer at 11:37 a.m., Thursday, June 1, 2006, at University Hospital, Iowa City.

He was born April 27, 1951 in OTTUMWA to Jesse L. and Zola Brewer Kirkhart. He married Sharon Buechel Oct. 14, 1978 in St. Mary's Church, Fort Madison.

He graduated from Fox Valley High School and Indian Hills Community College with a degree in agricultural mechanics. He farmed south of Cantril and had been a long-distance truck driver. He was a member of Van Buren County Farm Bureau and enjoyed his family, friends, farm and traveling.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Neil Kirkhart of Iowa City and Phillip Kirkhart of Cantril; an aunt, Iola Bales of Keosauqua; and his mother-in-law, Alvina Buechel of Fort Madison.

His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2006, in Cantril Christian Church, Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril.

Visitation will open at 2 p.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with the family present 7-8 p.m.
