OTTUMWA — Floyd H. “Flip” Heckart, 79, of 11620 Rabbit Run Road, Lot 160, died at 6:38 p.m. Jan. 13, 2008 at Ottumwa Manor.He was born Sept. 21, 1928 in Ottumwa to Ernest J. and Lela Hughey Heckart. He married Betty Cloke Thomas Oct. 9, 1980.

He worked for John Morrell and Co. for 27 years, had been an inspector for SIEDA and worked out of Labor Local #566.Surviving is his wife; a son, Ronald (Janet) Heckart of Agency; two stepsons, Michael (Sandi) Thomas of Nixa, Mo. and Tom (Paula) Thomas of Ottumwa; three step-daughters, Suellen (Chuck) Johnson of Ottumwa, Denise (Richard) Ritz of Oklahoma City, Okla., Cheryl Janney of Las Vegas, Nev.; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Troutfetter and Erma Shumaker both of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kent Heckart; and a step-son, Eddie Roberts.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.Memorials may be made to the family.
